Nominations are now open for this year's Night of Stars Honorees

Holy Family Academy’s upcoming Night of Stars recognizes and honors distinguished graduates. This year’s gala will be held at the Grand Summit Hotel in Summit, New Jersey on Friday, October 29, 2010. The gala will include cocktails and dinner. Honorees who have distinguished themselves as deserving recipients will be presented and awarded.

The Night of Stars committee is seeking nominees for each of the following awards:

            The Legacy Award:  Presented to a family, whose combined service and commitment to Holy Family has had a profound impact on the institution.

            The Professional Achievement Award: Presented to an alumnus whose achievements in his/her respective profession is exemplary and provide an example for others to emulate.

            The Service Award: Presented to an alumnus or friend of Holy Family whose service to others, through charitable, social or volunteer work, has had a profound impact on individuals in the community.

Past Night of Stars Honorees

2009

 HFA Legacy Award - The Conway Family: Patricia Conway ’66, Edgar and Maribeth (Conway) Hess ’70, Michael and Sharon Conway, William and Renee Conway.
Beginning with their parents who were both active members of the Holy Family Mothers' and Fathers' Clubs, the Conways have served on numerous committees and volunteered hundreds of hours to support Holy Family.

HFA Professional Achievement Award - Joan HajducsekRosen ’66
Joan began her music career in the Holy Family Orchestra. After graduating from New York University in 1970, she started out as a music teacher in Bayonne. Joan became the Director of Art and Music for the Bayonne Public Schools and has been an advocate for the arts throughout her long career. She has served as a trustee of the Free Bayonne Public Library and Cultural Center. She is the Vice President of the Bayonne Community Museum and Vice President of the Arts Administrators Association of New Jersey.

HFA Community Service Award - Agnes Gallagher Mangelli ‘55
Agnes has served the community of Bayonne tirelessly for the past forty years and has had an enormous impact on many organizations and institutions. These include the Bayonne Community Mental Health Center, the Bayonne Chapter of United Cerebral Palsy, Bayonne Medical Center, and the Bayonne Board of Education. She also serves as a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Henry’s Church.

HFA Community Service Award - Sr. Margi Savage, SSJ ’65
Sr. Margi spent nineteen years teaching both elementary and high school students, including three years at Holy Family Academy. During these years she was very involved as a volunteer in various parish ministries. In 2003 Sr. Margi began working with a community housing organization in Baltimore, MD and in 2004 became a staff member at Marian House, a transitional housing program for women and children. She was recently appointed as Area Delegate for the Sisters of St. Joseph, responsible for promoting the spirit and life of the congregation and interacting with local communities and individual members to foster unity and growth.I
